Letter from our President -  June 2008

"It is our privilege to be with and among God’s people
as we journey together in faith, making Connections as we go."

By Mary Murphy, CSJ
President

In the midst of a very cold and never-ending winter, Easter came. Jesus was raised from the dead, and although the earth and maybe even our hearts were not quite ready, resurrection happened. How blessed are we to believe! How blessed are we to trust!

Somewhere between this faith and trust lies imagination. Einstein tells us, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."

Day after day, we, Sisters of St. Joseph and Associates, pay attention to all that is going on in the world. We pay attention to the needs of humanity, the cries of the poor, the dreams of the young, the fears of our elders and the challenge of living within a global community. It is our privilege to be with and among God’s people as we journey together in faith, making Connections as we go. We acknowledge "our lives are a constant struggle to live as Jesus did, to serve as he served, and that only in our best moments do our lives approach in any way our aspirations¹."

We acknowledge the mystery of tomorrow and live with the questions of today.

As Members and Associates of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, we offer our heartfelt thanks for who you are as you continue to choose to be in relationship with us. Connecting with you through this Spring issue reminds us of the mutual commitment we share. Today, we thank you. We thank you for assisting us in being about the work of Jesus. We thank you for your support of our ministries, for your many gifts to all of us. In turn, we promise our prayerful remembrance of you and your family. Know we are forever grateful for the relationship we share!

May God our Creator, Jesus our Redeemer, and the Spirit who calls all of us to life continue to bless you with abundance. ł
